Definition of SEO and its significance
« on: November 26, 2008, 09:26:17 PM »

The term ‘SEO’ stands for ‘Search Engine Optimization’ and it is an integral part of ‘Search Engine Marketing’ or ‘SEM’. An updated and properly organized SEO helps a particular site in attaining a higher rank in the ‘Search Engine Results Pages’ or ‘SERPS’. Achieving a higher position in an SERP can be counted on the fact how specific and detailed information is provided by the search engine when certain search terms, commonly referred to as keywords or key phrases, are inserted. The result pages generally contain an arranged group of natural or Organic results, paid inclusions or Directories and pay-per-click or PPC advertisements.

Factors responsible for a thriving search engine optimization include the easy and quick access of the various web spiders (programmed robots or codes used by a search engine) to the specific website, possessing a clean code of the website so as to provide with a precise display of exclusive and fresh contents, unbroken links, structured outline of the contents, appropriate file sizes and a server that allows instant access to the website.

In the present day, Google, the most popular of all search engines, is the first preference of the users and occupies a good half of the market. Making the best possible use of resources for advanced optimization decides on a worthy ‘Return on Investment’ or ‘ROI’. If a page is extremely well-optimized, then it attains a higher rank not only in Google but also in other well-known and trendy search engines like Yahoo, MSN etc. So, it has become a prime objective of the online marketers to fight it to the top through good-quality optimization.

The ultimate goal of search engine optimization is not just confined to the optimization of a search engine, but it also includes the process of optimizing a website, relevant contents and links so that they can be easily accessed by the users.

Fully viable and logical approach to relevant topics is possible only when there is a vigorous research and considerately accurate prediction. These are also the deciding factors of a well-ranked optimized page.

To attract more and more visitors to a website, its SEO must be exceptionally well-organized and must be able to provide with an ample variety of precise and detailed information on any keyword or key phrase inserted by the users.

Thus, implementing concrete plans and ‘White Hat’ techniques (a White Hat technique refers to the method that conventionally follows the lawful instructions of a search engine and avoids trickery), and a very rational explanation of pertinent topics, lead to the success of search engine optimization, which has now become one of the strongest contenders of all the methods of online marketing.
